🇩🇰 Badehuset Christiania
Christiania, Copenhagen · Copenhagen · Denmark
A rustic, no-frills wood-fired bathhouse in the heart of Freetown Christiania — the self-governing commune established in 1971 on a former military base in central Copenhagen, now home to around 1,000 permanent residents. The sauna experience here is genuinely different from Copenhagen's polished commercial options: entry is affordable (from 50 DKK), the crowd is local and unpretentious, and the cold plunge is directly into the moat and canal network that winds through the commune's grounds. Christiania itself is worth an afternoon — wander the painted workshops, eat at Morgenstedet (a long-running vegetarian restaurant), and take in the street art before or after your session. Reach it in 5 minutes on foot from Christianshavn Metro, or cycle across the bridges from the city centre.
